Bug report: Universe 1.3.8
Hackers are exploiting buffer overflows to allow themselves and those they infect to
access memory not allocated to their processes. This is most often described by the
unwitting infected as past-life experiences or, in some rare cases, precognition.
While I understand that making use of low-level API calls and even assembly code are
helpful for implementing some tricky features and reducing overhead, I recommend
sticking with managed code as much as possible to avoid these sorts of exploits.
Something to consider for a future release is that running each avatar process
(with its related threads) in its own virtual machine should prevent these sorts
of problems altogether.
Oh, and thanks for fixing the collision detection issues present in the last point
release. I feel much less clumsy, now.
